6 Healthy Habits Every Senior Should Know

Some healthy habits that seniors can follow include getting sufficient sleep, exercising, eating a healthy and nutritious diet, developing a positive circle of friends, visiting the doctor regularly, and managing stress properly.

If you’re a senior, you can still recapture the energy of your early days. As a matter of fact, there are many ways to help one accomplish this. GenF2O Plus is a supplement which seniors can take to improve health and their quality of life. Apart from using products which are good for one’s health, seniors should learn to watch their health and their lifestyle. Here are some healthy habits that seniors should follow:

Make it a habit to get adequate sleep

Sleep allows your body to recover energy and is important for proper functioning. Sleep is important not only to one’s body but also to the other aspects of one’s life like emotional health and cognitive functions. Thus, older adults must get enough sleep and start good sleep habits.

Follow an exercise routine

Research shows that elderly people who engage in physical exercises regularly will be healthier and recover faster from illness compared to those who don’t. Regular exercise is good for losing weight and also for increasing energy and relieving stress. Exercise increases strength and flexibility, allowing seniors to enjoy life to its fullest.

Eat healthy and nutritious foods regularly

A complete healthy lifestyle includes having a healthy diet composed of vegetables, fruits, high-fiber and low-fat foods. A healthy diet is said to improve one’s well-being and can even promote longer life. Thus, aging adults should have a balanced diet with the right nutrition.

Surround oneself with a positive social circle

The social aspect of one’s life is also an important part of a good quality of life. Supportive friends are helpful to your emotional health, and they can help you get through difficulties and problems. Research has suggested that seniors who are connected with their communities will have fewer health problems and maintain good health. Relationships you have with friends who have a positive influence in your life should be nurtured.

Regularly go to the doctor

During senior years, one may face many changes especially in his or her physical condition. Being proactive with one’s health can bring good benefits, and this can be possible by seeking help from a specialist. Visiting the doctor regularly will help diagnose health risks earlier, and thus be able to make preventive measures to keep these from becoming serious. Your doctor will be able to tell you what changes should be made to your health as a form of precaution. Since you will be seeing your doctor routinely, your physician should be someone you trust and whom you are at ease with.

Deal with life’s stress in an appropriate way

Stress can have many negative effects on your life. Stress causes anxiety and even sleeplessness. Aside from the emotional strain that stress can cause, it is also a contributing factor in several diseases. Stress-management is thus very important. Try different stress-relieving activities like breathing exercises or any activity that you enjoy.

Everyone, whether young or old, can enjoy a healthy and fulfilling life by having healthy habits into their lifestyle.

Marriage Counseling Before Marriage

Let’s start this article off and simply say this. In my opinion, couples should go for counseling before they get married. This will help them to identify trouble spots, which will crop up later on in their life. They can rectify this problem after wards. Going for counseling is not yet popular among the people since they take it as a weak point. Couple who have strong marriage relation will also get the benefit if they take the service of professional counselors.

There are different stages in marriage. First step is for the couple to get married. Even if the couple are in love for some time and have meeting each other occasionally, there are so many things about each other, which they really do not know. Couple who live together and if they want to get married, still they must take the help of a counselor. They might not have thought about household workload and the finance involved. The counselor will highlight these problem areas and the couple can sort out this problem before the marriage.

Once a couple decide to get married they should approach a professional counselor and find out the trouble spots and get it rectified so that they are ready for the commitments which a married life demands. Counseling not only strengthen the relationship but also help to find out the trouble spot and rectify before it becomes a big issue, which ends up in fights. The number of fights will increase gradually. To avoid the situation you must visit a counselor before marriage. When the couple talk to an experienced counselor, he will come to know where the trouble can crop up, with his experience. It does not matter whether the couple tries to put forward their best form. The counselor will filter out trouble spots immediately while you speak to him.

Second stage is the arrival of new born. There will be a lot of excitements. But at the same time there will be ups and downs as well. Normal schedule will change. More responsibilities will be there. With each child birth the schedule will also change. Counseling at this stage will help the couple to deal with the situation during ups and downs. Counseling will help to keep the channel of communication open, which is very essential in couple. For a given situation, both the couple will react differently. One should keep others interest in mind. Counseling will help them to identify the trouble spots. That way one can avoid the situation if possible.

Most important thing to remember is that counseling is not a weakness, as people believe. It does not mean that the people who go for counseling are having weak relationship. Couple with strong relationship can also take the help of a counselor. It will help you to strengthen your relationship, which will last longer.

6 Tips For Happy Employees

You’ve got a great idea for a technical service or logistics business, your business license is in place and you’re hunting your first contract. How do you get employees and then keep them engaged?

In most part of the country, anyone with a job is fair game for a deluge of job applications from prospective employees who are grossly over qualified, hundreds who are qualified, and probably thousands who are underqualified. In other words, finding employees for real jobs is not a difficult prospect. But here in Huntsville, Alabama, we have lots of good paying jobs with great companies going unfilled. Why? There aren’t enough qualified engineers and contract management employees in town to fill all the open jobs. Some of these jobs are a result of the 2005 BRAC where many armed services jobs were consolidated from different places into a more local/regional arrangement. Some of the openings are a result of small company growth. Whatever the reason, the end result is that we have more jobs than we have qualified applicants. (NOTE: If you’re reading this and want to move to Huntsville, shoot me an email and I’ll put you in touch with the proper folks in the Workforce Development group at the Chamber of Commerce. They would love to discuss jobs and the Huntsville area with you.)

Employers in this part of the country tend to trade employees as contracts expire and new companies assume responsibilities, or they raid from each other or the Army or vise versa. So what’s a small company to do against the giants in town like Lockheed-Martin, Ratheon and Northrop Grumman? In order to compete with the giants in the contracts world, you’ll need really good people who are engaged in the company, their work and want to succeed. So how do you find these people?

1. Don’t pay too much.

Pay a competitive rate for the job at hand. Jacking up the pay rate will only lower your profitability over the term of your contracts and won’t necessarily get you the best people. It will mostly get you people who are motivated by money. While that’s not necessarily bad, it’s certainly not necessarily good. Wanting more money is a trait found in every worker, not just good workers.

2. Engage people in the work process.

Good employees want to feel like they are making a difference in their company. In a giant company, it will never happen. But in a small company, you can create an environment where your employees can be part of the process, not just a cog in the process wheel. As you discuss the work your company and its different departments, get your employees involved in designing the work, the systems and the improvement process. Create a feedback or suggestion system that actually considers employee ideas. You don’t have to implement every idea that an employee has, but if you give ideas careful consideration and involve the employee in the feedback and discussion loop, they’ll be thrilled. All employees have ideas. Find a system to get them up the ladder to department heads and management so they may be considered.

3. Get the right people in the job and get out of their way.

You’ve spent several months hiring just the right project manager for the new contract you just won. You even pay a signing bonus and moving expenses to get the employee to town and settled in. You have complete faith in their ability to properly manage the new contract. So get out of their way and let them do their job. Don’t look over their shoulder and second guess every decision. Don’t micromanage a good employee into submission. If you didn’t think they could do the job, why did you hire them in the first place? As an employee, nothing is more frustrated than being micromanaged by an owner or other manager who doesn’t have a clue how to do the job you were hired to do. Don’t be one of those managers or owners.

4. Communicate your plan.

Nothing is worse for an employee than to be completely in the dark about the company goals and objectives and plans for getting somewhere. They don’t have to know every detail, but do inform them about your latest strategic planning and how it will affect the direction of the company. Employees know when you’re working on plans and they just want to know what’s going on.

Make sure every employee has a physical copy or at the very least access to your mission and value statement. Explain to every new employee how this moral and business directive should affect how the engage the customer, how they interact with vendors and how it affects the way the do their job. This core company value statement is a powerful tool for communication with your employees. Your people want to be part of something grand and visionary. Make sure they behave according to your core values and reward excellence in achieving those values.

5. Get rid of ridiculous hiring practices.

If you want to compete with the giants for the very best employees, streamline your hiring process and make it employee friendly. Most employee hiring systems are fraught with ridiculous requirements and cumbersome steps. While huge companies need a robust software system for sorting out the thousand of applications they get daily, small companies don’t. Think of potential employees as potential customers. How would you manage this system if these were customers rather than employees? I’ll bet you wouldn’t create a system with 28 steps just to make an application. I’ll bet you wouldn’t have them come in for an interview and then not communicate with them again for 30 or 45 days. Whoever created the systems in use by most large companies today clearly wasn’t interested in recruiting the best people. What excellent employee prospect, with lots of opportunities and plenty of competition would pick your company with this stupid system? If you treat them as mindless robots before you hire them, how much worse will it be once they become actual employees?

Create an application system that’s convenient for the applicant. I heard a college admissions administrator tell of high school students trying to fill out 12-page admissions applications on an iPhone. Set a realistic resume acceptance time and stick to it. As you cull applicants, let them know they are not being considered. As soon as the time expires, pick the ones you want to interview and get them in. If you need a second interview, schedule it within a week of completing the first interview process. Don’t tell me that your people are busy and we can’t seem to get the interviews scheduled. Do you need employees or not? If you do, make it a priority. Make a decision and extend the offer. The entire process shouldn’t take more than 75 days and in many cases can be done in 30 – 45 days. If you don’t find a suitable candidate, tell them so and start over.

6. Allow your employees to take pride in their work.

While this may sound simplistic, it’s difficult to achieve, especially in a contract or manufacturing environment. Create employee project teams to consider new ideas and how they might be implemented to reduce costs, improve quality or increase sales. If new ideas pan out, implement them in your company.

In survey after survey, employees tell researchers that money is not the most important aspect of their motivation in the workplace. Employees want to do work that matters and feel good about what they do for a living. While everyone wants to feel that they are fairly paid, it’s meaningful and contributory work that makes people happy. In a now famous quote from William Manchester describing his experiences as a foot soldier during World War II, he said “A man wouldn’t sell his life to you, but he would give it to you for a piece of colored ribbon.”

Get rid of meaningless processes and procedures that don’t add value to your company. Create an environment where your employees can take pride in their work and they’ll never leave.

Tips for Traveling with Children

Family vacations can be one of the finest ways to craft memories which will last your kids a lifetime. Except, regardless of how long you stay at your dream destination, when traveling with children the longest part of the trip can be your journey there or back. Long car rides or airplane trips can appear infinite for young kids waiting to get to their vacation goal. By remembering these family travel tips, grownups can make the travel time go quickly for their kids and even themselves.

For kids, leaving on a family vacation might be the best bit of their summer. Small wonder that they are excited but impatient when the minute at last arrives, and they are on their way to a theme park, beach, or other target.  It is a “known known” that children get keyed up about getting to their vacation spot, all the same, parents really can make the trip seem less lengthy by having an assortment of games and activities at hand for keeping the children busy and their minds off of the journey.

For longer car road trips there are a lot of games that can make the time go by. Children characteristically get bored with playing the same games they play day after day, so try spicing things up by offering them games specially made for long car trips. One of the games involves finding the letters of the alphabet on road signs;maybe you know the one I mean.  For instance, if you pass by a sign that reads “Alvah’s Barbeque Cafe” the letters A, B, and C are found.  When you pass by the next sign, look for a D. If there are two kids in the backseat, it can become it a contest, by only letting them to use signs on their side of the road out the window. Another car game for long trips on interstate highways is the license plate game, where your children try to find cars with license plates from different states – see if they can find all fifty.

Similar to car rides, keeping kids occupied on airplane trips is the key.  Activities on planes are a bit easier, given that the ride is generally smoother and kids have the use of the pop-down trays to use as a table top for activities such as drawing or coloring.

When traveling with children too young to keep entertained with toys, it can be tougher. Your best option is to keep them comfortable, making sure your baby does not take a nap right before the flight. This will raise the chance that he or she will sleep during the plane ride.  Small babies should be given bottles while the plane is taking off, as feeding them during take-off usually prevents your baby’s ears from popping, which will cause the baby discomfort and an uneasy feeling.

Retaining Good Employees

Companies with high employee turnover rates are losing not only valuable resources but also substantial money. Different studies come up with different costs, but these range from $ 7,000 – $ 9,000 to replace an hourly low-wage employee and up to $ 45,000 to replace a mid-level salaried employee. Some estimates on the cost of replacing the average employee are over $ 125,000. The Saratoga Institute and Hewitt Associates estimate the productivity cost of replacing employees can cost 1 to 2.5 times the salary of the job opening.

Aside from the actual cost of hiring and training new employees, turnover can also contribute to customer-service disruption, declines in morale among remaining employees, and loss of corporate knowledge. Turnover has the highest cost in jobs requiring specialized skills, such as nursing and information technology, and jobs in middle or high level management. Many companies and organizations are embracing HR talent management programs that evaluate the issues of employee retention, and far too many are not.

Is employee retention going to become a major issue for your company? Well, according to the Gallop organization, 71% of your employees already would consider leaving for a better or more appealing opportunity. Combine that statistic with the current positive state of the economy, low unemployment rate and flexible work arrangements available, and it becomes clear that employees now have more choices than ever before. Now, let’s add in the fact that over the next few years while 76 million Baby Boomers begin to retire, the upcoming Generation X (ages 25-34) has a population of only 44 million people, and it becomes clear that each year there will be fewer people available for work.

If your business is highly employee critical, then employee retention is one of the primary measures of the health of your organization. If you are currently losing critical staff members, you can safely bet that other employees are looking as well. And while few of us would turn down more money, according to most studies, money is not the primary tool for retaining employees. A few simple steps that companies can take to help retain the employees they have and can go a long way in keeping employees happy and productive.

Employees are people and want what most people want: flexible work schedules, appreciation, training for performance improvement, performance incentives, and clear direction on exactly what is expected of them. If the company is sincerely interested in the employee doing well, usually the employee will do well.

Flexible Schedules

Up until recently, “flexible work arrangements” meant that if you worked late on Wednesday, then you could come in late or leave early Thursday. Now, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics about thirty percent of full-time employees in the United States have true flexible schedules that allow them to balance work and private lives. A growing number of employees are from dual-career couples, have child and/or elder care responsibilities, or are baby boomers, and these factors create a growing demand for flexible work schedules. Because flexible work arrangements challenge many traditional assumptions about how, where and when work gets done in many industries, developing and rolling out such a program takes careful planning.

Training

Because employees involved in ongoing training feel that their employer is interested in them doing a better job and cares enough about them to make an investment in their development, a direct link exists between training and employee retention. While training has always been considered a means for positive change and increased employee performance in any business, only recently have HR experts realized that training is a key tool in employee retention. An employee must have the tools, time and training necessary to do their job well – or they will move to an employer who provides them.

Performance Incentives

Employees have a human need to feel rewarded, recognized and appreciated. Sometimes just a thank you or a plaque will do, but realistically, work is about the money, and almost every individual wants more. I suggest offering performance based bonuses. Surveys show that employees view bonuses more favorably than they do raises. Employees have extra incentive to work for something tangible, and bonuses keep other employees from feeling unfairly treated when someone else gets a raise and they do not. People understand others getting a reward for a one time achievement, and know that they had the same opportunity. Commissions and bonuses that are easily calculated on a daily, weekly, or other basis, and easily understood, raise motivation for doing a job well and help retain staff.

Clear Directions

Changing expectations keep employees nervous and make employees feel insecure and unsuccessful. While job growth is important, the need for a specific framework within which people clearly know what is expected from them while they expand their horizons is most important. A motivated employee wants to contribute to work areas outside of his specific job description. Your best employees, those employees you want to retain, seek frequent opportunities to learn and advance, but they need clear directions that fit within the company’s vision for that development.

Finally, remember that employees are people, so let them bring their human selves to work, and performance and production will increase.

This method aims to avoid infection and disease comes from bacteria due to movement of the hand. Also, wash fresh fruits and vegetables also serves eliminate pesticide substances that are still attached.

Too much consuming kabohidrat
Excessive carbohydrate intake can cause metabolic imbalances. The process of converting food into energy not only come from carbohydrates, but also from other nutrient content. Protein, minerals, vitamins are also very needed by the body. Try to meet the food composition is balanced.

Do not store meat properly.

Tips For Photographing Children

Parents and grandparents will often choose their children or grandchildren as the number one subject to take pictures of and understandably so. Children are fun and entertaining to watch, but unfortunately, they won’t remain children forever.

That’s why parents take as many photographs as they can to capture some of those fun and entertaining moments their children provide them. As the kids get older, those precious seconds, minutes, and hours will start to fade away.

Photographs help freeze those moments in time, so that they can enjoy their children even when their children are adults. The problem is that children aren’t always the most cooperative or easy subjects to photograph. Here are some tips to help you out:

Take photos of them regularly

The more photos you take of your children, the better off you are. After awhile, children will start to get used to you clicking off photos of them and will sometimes even stop long enough to pose for a photo or two.

Children are more interested in exploring and doing what they want to do. The last thing they think of is whether or not what they’re doing is a photographable moment. Once they get used to you taking pictures and see the results of them, they’ll be less likely to run off the next time you want take a photo of them.

Be prepared

The best pictures taken of children are those instant and unexpected moments. Trying to set up the scene for a photo opportunity is next to impossible, because the child is not likely to stick with a pose for more than a second or two.

The world is full of distractions. A slow crawling bug can grab their attention faster than you can whip out your camera. Instead of trying to set up your photo with them, simply have your camera ready and shoot the second you see something to capture on film; like them watching the crawling bug.

For those Set up moments

Of course, the instant, unexpected moments are the best option, but sometimes you want to actually set the scene for your photo opportunity; such as portrait taking. When those rare moments occur, you need to have a helping hand or two to aid in making the opportunity a success.

Have your camera adjusted and ready to go before you even try it. Everything should be in place before your child is placed in the chosen area. Your assistants’ job is to distract the child by standing behind or close to you and doing whatever it takes to get the child’s attention on them and try to get them to smile.

When your child looks in that direction and has a smile or something close to it; that’s when you should quickly take the photograph. Get one or two more if possible just for good measure. Try not to spend too much time on it. The more time you take, the more irritable they could become.

Photographing children can be difficult, but they can also be fun. Learn to be patient and don’t expect perfection when it comes to your children and photos. Focus on capturing moments in time rather on getting the most perfect picture possible. A picture of a child dumping sand on themselves and laughing is a much better photo opportunity then a child in a fancy outfit crying because they’re uncomfortable and irritable.

Tips For Passing Kidney Stones – Natural Health Advice

The search term, ‘tips for passing kidney stone’ is a popular one these days. Many people are looking for quality, researched remedies that work for flushing kidney stones and eliminating the painful symptoms of this disease.

Obviously, most people limit themselves to drinking plenty of water. Because most stones are composed of calcium, it only makes sense that you need water to help flush this important organ. In fact, most stones will be passed by drinking plenty of water.

However, what about the other 15% of kidney stones that are bigger than 5 mm and need something a little more? In this article, you will learn some quick tips that work to help dissolve and pass kidney stones.

For Passing a Kidney Stone… Fiber and Acids

It has been said that kidney stones are possibly the most painful disease and also the simplest to cure naturally. This is most likely because all you need is 2 things: Fiber and the right acids.

Fiber is in everything from grains to fruits and vegetables. Fiber has gained a lot of publicity lately because of all the health benefits. It can naturally keep your body flushed of toxins, cholesterol and even kidney stones.

Acids are in many different foods. In fact, ascorbic acid (also known as vitamin C) is the acid that boosts your immunity. But there are other acids that can actually aid in dissolving calcium stones in your kidneys.

Here are some tips for passing a kidney stone.

1. Obviously, drinking water is still important. Though you may have found little success with drinking water, you should continue to drink water along with these other tips. You should aim to drink at least 10-12 glasses daily.

2. Fiber is important. Try to get at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables daily. Vegetables are the better choice because of the less sugar content.

3. Vegetables with high chlorophyll content are said to be the best for flushing the kidneys. Research has shown that asparagus, wheat grass, fresh parsley are all simple vegetables that can help flush the kidney stones.

4. Because the liver plays no role in acid base regulation, it is important to get the right acids to help dissolving the stones. You should supplement 1000 mg of Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) 3 times daily.

5. Adding lemon juice to your drinks can also be beneficial for giving your drink a kick but also allowing citrus acid to get to your kidneys.

Just as you limit your child’s TV time, you also need to limit your own. Do you realize how much more you will be able to get done if you are not glued to your television set. Think of how many more things you will manage to get done in this time.

2. Set your alarm to get up a half hour earlier

We all tend to run out of time in the mornings and end up rushing. Start your day with some alone time to focus on your day and what you want to achieve, before rushing off to do all your chores. This will make a vast difference to your day and give you more direction.

3. Write a List and Shop only once a week

Plan ahead and shop for the week, and in this way you will save both money and time. If you shop daily, you will be tempted to purchase more unhealthy snacks. Shopping online is also a huge time saver.

4. Drink more water

Start your day off with two liters of water on your desk and take regular sips throughout the day. By finishing your bottle, you will have consumed the recommended eight glasses of water a day.

5. Pack your own lunch for work

You will make healthier choices and save money at the same time. If you spend just R30 a day on food and coffee, this amounts to a staggering R 7 200.00 by the end of the year.

6. Find time to exercise each day

Most of us use the excuse that we don’t have time to exercise, or that we are too tired by the end of the day to still go to the gym. There are lots of ways to exercise throughout the day in short bursts that will help you to get your exercise in. Try walking up the stairs instead of using the elevator. Take a brisk walk at lunch time. Do some stretches at your desk every hour. Stretch and use weights while watching television. Over the weekends, do family outings that involve some sort of activity, like swimming, playing cricket, hiking or even walking or running on the beach. You will be amazed at just how much physical activity you will be able to fit in if you put your mind to it.

7. Get enough rest

Most importantly, make sure you get enough sleep. You will perform much better at work and be more productive if you are well rested and you will be able to focus much better on the tasks at hand.

Just making small changes to your lives can make a huge difference in your overall health and well being, and bring you the focused results that you have been dreaming of.
